Allegrippis Trail video

Post Posted: Fri Jul 30, 2010 9:33 pm

Melinda and I recently visited the Allegrippis Trails @ Raystown Lake in PA. Of course I made a video for your viewing pleasure.

Check it out here if your like Brandon and haven't seen it on facebook or my blog.

It's a really cool trail system built by the Army Corps of Engineers & IMBA, 30+ miles of super fast roller coaster style singletrack. If your ever up that way it's a definite must stop.

Jared, the drive was about 8 hrs but that was pulling a camper, I'm sure you could do it in 7. We took 81N and got off on Hwy 522 in W. VA. just south of Maryland. From there I believe we took 68 to 220 to 17 to 26 to 36 then 866. All of these were 4 & 2 lane hwys. I used Google maps to find my route.
It really wasn't a bad drive but it was tough getting a campsite. Luckily we have family there who secured us a spot @ 7 Points campground. Probably one of the nicer but more difficult campgrounds to get in. It's on the lake and the trails are acessible from within the campground.
It's definitly worth the drive, they have a nice big lake with a beach area.

Don't forget the screwy alcohol laws in PA. If you want a six pack you have to go to a bar and order 6 to go. Or, go to a public "beer distributor" and buy a case quantity (24) of the same beer. No mixing 12 packs to get to 24. Best bet is to bring your own.

I swear, the closer one gets to the northeast the stranger things get. I tried pumping my own gas in new jersey one time and got yelled at.

Ok, back on topic. I hear those trails are sweet!

I was headed up to climb in new hampshire. Yes actually, it was a series of wrong turns. C'mon, who in their right mind would go to jersey on purpose?
